The production plant's strategic location close to raw material suppliers makes the supply of raw materials more efficient and convenient, allowing BASF to meet customer needs in a more competitive and flexible way. With the ramp-up of production capacity, the plant will continue to provide comprehensive support for a wide range of industries, including coatings, construction, packaging and adhesives.

BASF's Dispersions & Resins division is committed to developing a new generation of cutting-edge products to meet the evolving needs of the Chinese market. Andreas Fechtenkoetter, Senior Vice President and Head of BASF's Dispersions business in Asia Pacific, elaborated on the company's strategy to expand its production capacities: "Meeting existing demand and offering a wider range of products are driving our growth. For example, in addition to architectural coatings, we have expanded our product portfolio to meet the needs of the battery industry. BASF's anode adhesive products, such as Licity® and Basonal® Power, are essential components of lithium-ion batteries. The expansion of production capacity is critical to meet the growing demand for batteries in the

Chinese market and the Asia-Pacific region. In order to fully showcase our more diverse product range, in the first quarter of this year, we changed the name of BASF Paper Chemicals (Huizhou) Co., Ltd. to BASF Specialty Materials (Huizhou) Co., Ltd.'. "

BASF has always been committed to driving innovation in traditional industries, such as its groundbreaking patented IO-Hybrid Technology. Mirian Tiemi Zanchetta-Sbragia, Vice President of BASF and Business Management for Dispersants in Asia Pacific, said: "This technology goes beyond the basic functionality of the product and creates many additional advantages for customers and end users. Interior paints with IO-Hybrid technology provide higher coverage for superior interior design aesthetics and antimicrobial performance within 24 hours. In addition, this innovative technology eliminates the need for biocides to be added to paint cans, helping to reduce volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions. "

Since its start of production in 2012, the dispersion production unit at the Daya Bay site in Huizhou has played an important role in supporting BASF's market growth in South China. In the fourth quarter of 2022, ground was broken on the plant's second production line. In the second quarter of 2024, the line will be fully operational, further reinforcing BASF's commitment to driving innovation to meet the evolving needs of a wide range of industries in the global market.
