Mar 22, 2024

Solar Tint, a window film company based in Cincinnati, has announced the acquisition of Suntrol, a Cleveland-based industry company. The transaction, effective February 28, 2024, solidifies Solar Tint's presence in Ohio and expands its reach to seven locations across four states.

Founded in 1975, Suntrol serves high-profile clients such as the Cleveland Clinic, Akron Children's Hospital and Huntington Bank. The company will maintain its Cleveland headquarters while operating under the Solar Tint umbrella.

Jason Young, president of Solar Tint, expressed gratitude for the mentorship provided by Suntrol's founder, John Hansen. Young had joined his family's business more than two decades ago.

"I look forward to expanding on what he and his team have built over decades," Young says.

Hansen reciprocated the sentiment, stating that he "could not have found a better team to carry on the Suntrol legacy."

This acquisition follows Solar Tint's 2019 purchase of ESP Window Tint in Louisville and the company's strategic decision to focus solely on architectural window film and graphics in early 2023.

While not actively seeking further acquisitions, Young remains open to future opportunities.

"I believe if you're not growing, you're dying," he says. "If there's another Suntrol or ESP out there, I'm 100% in."

Solar Tint's success is rooted in its commitment to treating others with honesty and respect while providing exceptional customer service. The company aims to foster growth and success for its brands, employees and clients alike.

With this latest acquisition, Solar Tint continues to strengthen its position as a leader in the window film industry, poised for further growth and success in the years to come.
