Cavitec Introduces A New Polyurethane Hot Melt Adhesive Coating System

The Switzerland company, which is part of the Santex Rimar Group, presented the redesigned Caviscreen to the public for the first time at Techtextil in Frankfurt. Using the latest technology, Caviscreen achieves unrivalled results in breathable laminates and offers an interesting cost advantage.

Caviscreen is a hot-melt coating and lamination device specially developed for breathable sportswear, raincoats and protective clothing, with or without film. The redesigned machine demonstrates a completely new way to deliver adhesives more evenly and precisely. The use of PUR adhesives (reactive polyurethane hot melt adhesives) offers additional advantages, such as strong adhesion and versatility.

Caviscreen's hot fuse screen printing is a special system for garments for high-end applications. With this Caviscreen system, the PUR adhesive is transferred to the substrate by rotating the screen, similar to a well-established textile printing method. The adhesive is conveyed from the drum melter via a heated hose to the transverse adhesive dispensing system inside the rotary screen, just behind the scraper.

The mobile adhesive dispenser is used to automatically dispense the adhesive at a set working width, which is an added technical advantage and can be set up without any mechanical changes.

Cavitec's innovative screen coating system is the most precise system and eliminates the need for glue between coating points, resulting in a final sportswear product with excellent breathability and a soft feel. The system also achieves higher bond strength while using less adhesive than other coating processes, as the coating is applied to the surface of the substrate so that there is less tendency for the adhesive to penetrate the substrate.

The adhesive strength, softness, and breathability of a fabric are determined by the weight of the coating and the coverage area.
